HRAI: Residential Heat Loss/Heat Gain Calculations (Feb. 24 to 27)
Format: 4-day, Online Virtual
Dates: Feb. 24 to 27, 2026
Time: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM CST
This 4-day course is based on the CSA F280-12 (R2021) “Determining the Required Capacity of Residential Space Heating and Cooling Appliances” a nationally recognized standard which is referenced by all Canadian Building Codes.
This course guides students through step-by-step calculations to determine the required or appropriate appliances, based on understanding heat loss and heat gain in the building envelope. The calculation includes examining above- and below-grade HLHG, air leakage and ventilation, and the influence that people, appliances, and window shading have on the system.
The Best Part: Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be recognized by municipal building officials and plan examiners for demonstrating the technical competency needed to perform residential load calculations and select appropriate HVAC appliances.
